Description: This article looks at critical points in my life, offers a very brief bio, and then explains how I used the experiences to learn decade by decade. The purpose of the event was to introduce nearly 300 high school students, teachers and career counselors to the actuarial profession through presentations, an industry panel, and fun activities.

Description: 2024 is the 50th anniversary of ERISA and enough time has passed since the enactment of Secure 2.0. The U.S. Retirement system is mostly defined contribution. Gaps remain in U.S. Retirement Security and there are very different perspectives on how the system is doing. What is going well and what is not? In an interview with the Atidot data science and actuarial team, we discuss what it is like to work at an InsurTech, how data scientists and actuaries can collaborate, and look at some concrete technical examples of where the innovation is having an impact.
