Behavioral analysis factors for biases and heuristics designed specifically for uncertain evolutionary contexts, and which are the primary drivers of market participants’ decisions at present. Through understanding the most likely behaviors of individuals, it becomes possible to arrive at an aggregate understanding of market outcomes.

Description: Many ERM programs fail to include an active step of actual risk treatment and are therefore rightfully characterized as Entertainment Systems. Real ERM will use risk assessment to drive decisions about risk acceptance and risk mitigation. Entertainment systems use risk assessment to create reports and to hold discussions. No actions are taken often because ERM is not empowered to do anything.

Description: In this article, we discuss the future of wearable technology in life insurance. Evidence from recent research shows that low levels of physical activity, as measured by steps per day indicate much higher mortality risk while higher levels of activity correspond with lower risk. The article shares insights of how insurers can use wearables to innovate by improving the customer journey, expanding insurability, engaging customers, promoting healthy lifestyles and improving risk assessment. Lastly, we discuss the challenges and considerations when using new data and technology to ensure success.
