Society of Actuaries Leaders Engage with the Actuarial Community at Conference in India
Leaders from the Society of Actuaries (SOA) visited Mumbai, India, to participate in the Global Conference of Actuaries (GCA), a key event shaping the future of the actuarial profession.The representatives included SOA President and Chair Amanda Hug, FSA, MAAA; Rose Fealy, SOA COO/CFO; Andrew Peterson, FSA, MAAA, FCA, SOA Managing Director, International; Carla Carry, SOA Managing Director, Marketing and Communications; and Courtney Nashan, CAE, SOA Managing Director, Global Engagement.
The event began with a special lamp-lighting ceremony, during which SOA President Amanda Hug joined actuarial leaders to mark the opening of this prestigious gathering. She also took the stage for the Presidential Round Table, Navigating the Global Actuarial Frontiers, and discussed the evolving role of actuaries, emerging risks, regulatory changes and the profession’s future in a data-driven world.
Another key highlight was the release of the India Emerging Risk Survey Report, a joint initiative between the SOA and the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI), presented by Peterson. This study explores emerging risks in the Indian market and what they mean for the profession.
SOA leadership also attended the SOA Candidate Connect evening, where they met with students and future actuaries, sharing insights and guidance on career journeys. The SOA also had the honor of meeting with children who performed at GCA 2025.
