SOA Lifetime Volunteer Award is presented to a volunteer who has shown their ongoing commitment to the SOA for more than 15 years and whose dedication and contributions have helped to advance the Society of Actuaries’ mission as well as the actuarial profession.
2025 Award Recipient
Christopher H. Hause, FSA, MAAA
President, Hause Actuarial Solutions
Christopher has offered extraordinary, decades-long contributions to the actuarial profession. A consistent and impactful volunteer since the early 1990s, Chris has served in numerous leadership roles, most notably as Chair of the SOA’s Credit Insurance Experience Committee. Under his guidance, the committee produced critical studies on credit disability and unemployment insurance, including the 2004 Credit Disability Study and the 2011 Claim Termination Table Study. His work has informed valuation standards adopted by the NAIC and incorporated into VM-26.
Chris has also played a major role in updating credit disability morbidity tables, including significant contributions to the 2023 version. His leadership has helped actuaries more effectively assess risk, develop products, and meet regulatory demands in evolving markets. Beyond research, Chris has served as a speaker, moderator, and advisor across SOA meetings, webcasts, and sections, fostering a culture of mentorship and collaboration among his peers.
Chris's steady presence, generous mentorship, and innovative thinking have left a lasting mark on the actuarial community. Known for his calm, inclusive leadership style, Chris has mentored many actuarial volunteers and served as an example of collaborative excellence. His volunteer work reflects not only professional excellence but also a deep commitment to advancing the field and supporting its future leaders.
